Functional Capacity Evaluations
We are Certified Providers for Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) and Employment Testing (through the WorkSTEPS, Inc. system).O’Brien Physical Therapy and SOZO provides standardized and controlled tests which can include gathering baseline data for Disability Forms, Return to Work Capability for the post-injured worker, and Job Placement. The FCE includes comprehensive musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, static and dynamic strength and lifting, endurance, and other job specific components.
Typically ordered by the managing physician or employer, the FCE must be conducted by a licensed Physical Therapist and qualified technicians. The FCE is a “controlled and objective” test from which the gathered information is compared to the WorkSTEPS industrial database – the largest of its kind in the country. Results such as safe lifting recommendations are displayed in a detailed report.
Insurance or Reduced Cash Rate
FCE’s are typically covered by Workers Compensation and O’Brien Physical Therapy & SOZO accepts the following insurance for this test, however, we also offer a significantly reduced cash rate:
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO
- Some Aetna, HealthNet, Humana Plans
- All Workers Comp Plans
- We also offer a competitive discounted cash rate
- In some cases if you have an attorney on your disability case they may be able to pay for it up front, please contact your attorney to consult about this charge prior to scheduling.
**Test time is between 2 and 3 hours. When coming in for an FCE please make sure to have all payment info (if being covered by 3rd party,) Job description and diagnostic tests needed. Also make sure to dress appropriately (clothes easy to lift and bend in.)
